Oil Future Alberta

I closely follow oil & gas industry as future of Alberta depends on it hence all local business including ours(ISS Security).

Do you think oil will rise above $70/barrel again by the end of 2016? If so, what will be the factors pushing this price increase?

There are simply too many forces at work here. However, much in the same way that the cure for high prices is high prices, the cure for low prices is low prices. They will dampen supply and boost demand, causing a rebound. I wouldn't bet on that rebound going much beyond $60, but then,..

For a great debate on the subject between people who know far more about the oil market than I do, see https://www.reddit.com/r/AdviceA...

Whats happening with us. News Letter

Hello,
I havent been able to write a blog in some time but now i have few mins for it. We have changed few things this year to date with ISS Security providing Security guard and mobile patrol industry.

1. We opened up a security training academy. We do offer Alberta Basic Security Training(ABST), in fact we have taught few sessions. This facility is only in Calgary yet.
2. We actually leased an office in Edmonton now. We have been offering services there thru Calgary office with two supervisors in Edmonton but now we have an office in Edmonton for our local management staff. This step will definitely help our managing staff by increasing there performance and might attach some new clients as well. Our new address is as per below:

Security Industry Epidemic - Problems with firms

Problem with Security Industry that has become norm
  • Lack of coordination and communication between guards and management side.
  • Unmotivated, underpaid, little or no benefits and unqualified guards.
  • Absence of training, and post-order resulting in lack of job understanding and their role   as security officer for that specific location.
  • Almost no field supervision, site audits or random checks. Guards have very minimal help or guidance available from management to discuss and resolve field problems and in some cases prevention prior to escalation.
  •  High guard turnover.
  • Company has no control over guards, basically zero enforcement.
  •   Sending a constant stream of different guards to the customer can cause significant dissatisfaction.
  • Management types in most companies are not management material but rather have risen through the ranks of the companies.
 Mobile Security Patrols
  • Issue with MobileSecurity officer is not spending enough times, doing require number of trips, and performing required inspections.
The security guard business should be a highly paid industry, but it’s not and for one reason. Too much competition that keeps contracts depressed. Some companies(mostly new)will  offer any price to get the contract and pay lowest wage without any benefits to increase their profit margin. You cant find good, reliable, and qualified employee at such wages or if you find them cant hang on to them for too long, which leads to turn-over. These are companies that are run by people that don’t really care about the people they employ or the people they work for, just as long as they keep a cash flow going and have minimal tax right offs they will continue to underbid and keep prices depressed.

Please do leave your opinions and feedback or if you believe if there are other factors contributing to this as well.

Mobile Security Services - Calgary

Mobile Security with complete peace of mind - Calgary

ISS Security recently developed a  real-time reporting and location verification technology software for mobile security services. This will enable our clients to have 100% peace of mind. This will eliminate all service problems e.g Less #trips to sites than promised to clients and false reporting Improper inspection when on site,. But how?

We are required to visit at site at onset of new service agreement define a virtual fence for each site, incorporating geofencing concept. We will also be required to set inspection criteria with the help of clients.
1.  When ISS Security Unit arrives on site, it must pass thru the Geo Fence boundary, which will be stored as arrival time. Similarly, when the unit leaves and passes thru the Geo fence boundary that will stored as departure time. These two times will be used to calculate trip duration.
2. To restrict false information, mobile security unit must be present within the marked boundaries or virtual fence. Once Security officer attempts to upload information it will match the unit current geo coordinates of mobile unit and Geo coordinates specified initially to set the fence of a specfic site, if they are within the range information will be uploaded if they dont information will be rejected.
3. Lets say the mobile unit and security guard is present with the virtual fence of a site. Security guard will be granted access to the site and site criteria initially set by client and ISS security consultants. Guard will be able to see that what is expected of him to successfully inspect the property. Then he will upload the required information . As soon as guard hit send the information will be uploaded to the server.
4. Guard can upload different inspection details, pictures, disturbances, his recommendations  and notes.
5. Client will be provided with a username and password, which will allow the client to loin and view information at any time. This provides clients with peace of mind that they can login in any second and received updates from their site. They will be able to know what time the last patrol was performed and what kind of inspections were carried out. If there were any issues or all went well. Client can also request daily email reports for the night.

We provide the quality security patrols with location verification and real-time reports at a very normal cost in the city of Calgary, AB. Our services are very affordable and comforting  to our clients. Call us now to discuss more.

Steps to stop/prevent shoplifting.

How to Spot a Shoplifter - Loss Prevention - 9 Step guide.

Shoplifting and loss of merchandise in City of Calgary, AB alone is estimated to be millions of dollars each year. A lot of time store owners/management employ security services to prevent or detect shop lifting. Security services here means a security guard in uniform or in plain dress to perform these services, this type of security services also defined as loss prevention. #ISS Security guards or security guards in general have adopted these techniques and also recommended for the store owner to help prevent the loss of merchandise. Steps All stores will have these people, who will gladly take merchandise but will have no consent to pay for them. Although it is dangerous to take on a thief by yourself, here are some easy to follow steps to spot a shoplifter.
1. Know certain tactics that shoplifters have. Shoplifting has became harder and harder over the years due to the introduction of CCTV in stores, thus new tactics have been plotted which will differ in different scenarios, here are some of the most common. o Snatch & Run:This strategy is mostly used by lone shoplifters, and is just like a Hit and Run; 1. Go into store 2. Steal Item 3. Run  Simple as that, however this strategy can easily be flawed by noticing a few obvious flaws.
2. Notice their clothing. Hoods, sunglasses, scarfs etc. or any attempt to cover the face is an easily exploitable way of spotting a thief.
 3. Watch out for lingering. Most snatchers tend to linger around their target, thinking of how to pull it off, or to just wait until their exit is clear. If there is no exit, no snatch
4. Pay attention to how desperate they are: Because the Snatch and Run is rarely used nowadays, its common among first time felons or petty thugs. If their exit is blocked they will rarely turn aggressive, and may even apologize, thus no merchandise is stolen.
 5. Watch out for group Theft: Possibly the most intimidating form of theft, a group of 4-8 people will enter the store and will possibly split up, but will all end up heading to their target eventually. With practice, a group theft can easily be prevented by offering assistance and being aware. o Size will matter. If a group of thieves are caught red handed, they make become violent and start to cause trouble, this is where your plead for help will come in, hopefully they will come in a bigger force. If they do engage in violence the local authorities can easily be called.
6. Offer assistance. It may sound silly, but it helps. A group of thieves may become stunned or may even abort prior to contact with an employee, because you have now engaged conversation, and you have seen their faces. If they ignore and try to evade you, you can easily now ask for help should their be any further contact.
 7. Be more diligent around closing hour. Most thefts happen at night, where there will be fewer witnesses, less authority to deal with, and when your shop will be closing. Normally prior to closing hours, the front door (if not guarded by partitions) will be automatically shut. Which in turn will trap the would be thieves, and give you more time for the police to arrive.
 8. Watch for the theft and distraction technique. This is mainly used in a duo theft, whilst one person draws employee's attention to something else, the thief can complete their mission with ease, here's how to spot this tactic:
 9. Watch for the talkative distraction technique. If you pull away from a distraction when you shouldn't be, they will try gain your attention again, either blocking your path or by asking an out of the blue question. This is the most biggest giveaway possible to a theft and distraction scenario.
